Katya Cooper was born in Russia, where she started her ballroom training at the early age of four. Her mom was her primary coach and she has traveled the world to train with many other renowned coaches in International Standard and Latin Dance. She has competed and won Latin, Standard, and Ten Dance Ballroom events all around the globe. Katya came to the United States to further pursue her career as a ballroom instructor/competitor. Katya dances with partner Anton Sidorov in the USA in January 2009; since then, they became Mid-Atlantic Latin champions, Mid-West Latin champions, and Mid-West Standard champions. They also won in the Standard division at the United Dancesport Championship 2010 in Orlando, FL. They placed 4th in the Smooth division at USA National Championships 2013.
Katya began teaching dance at age of 16. She currently teaches all ages and skill levels of ballroom dancing.
She found competitive kids’ team Atlanta Elite in 2010. Since then, her students have placed top three in Nationals Championships since 2012.
One of her couples was honored to represent the United States Juvenile Team at the international Blackpool Dance Competition in 2012 in UK.
